The Holmes County Jail offers programs to help foster a sense of being rehabilitated while incarcerated at the jail.

Areas of focus include:

Agriculture: Inmates gain a hands-on knowledge of gardening by preparing the land, planting, tending, and harvesting a vast array of fruits and vegetables from the garden. This program not only provides the inmate with an opportunity to gain knowledge and experience but to also enjoy the fruits of their labor. The fruits and vegetables harvested from the garden are prepared and served back to the inmates housed at the jail.

Auto Mechanics: The Holmes County Jail is equipped with an auto mechanics shop operated as a vocational program to help inmates gain knowledge or hone their skills in the area of auto mechanics. This vocational program offers a vast array of learning experience for the beginner, as well as, a seasoned mechanic. Operations of the auto mechanics shop are supervised by a vocational instructor.

Overall, rehabilitative programs produce a two-fold outcome. We are better equipping inmates to re-enter society by allowing them to gain knowledge of a skill and\or trade and by operating these programs we in turn reduce spending and save tax payer dollars.
