HOLMES COUNTY SHERIFF
JOHN TATE
I would like to introduce myself.
I am John Tate, a lifelong resident of Holmes County. I grew up in the Pine Log community with my parents, David and Bea Tate, and I have two sons who attend Holmes County public schools. Family and church are a very important part of my life; my family and I attend Winterville Assembly of God. I began my law enforcement career at an early age watching my father serve as a part-time deputy with the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office. I also had the privilege of serving alongside my father in many activities serving the citizens of Holmes County. I’m a graduate of Ponce de Leon High School. I joined HCSO in 1995 as an Auxiliary Deputy. After high school, I attended Chipola College for two years to further my education. I then completed the law enforcement academy and became Florida law enforcement certified. During my 20 years of service at HCSO, I have held several supervisory positions. I am grateful to the citizens of Holmes County for giving me the opportunity to serve as your Sheriff. It is my mission to run an efficient and effective office by striving to excel in all aspects through continuous training and education. I also use every available resource to rehabilitate victims of substance addictions, both by utilizing substance abuse treatment centers, as well as our local faith based programs. I also strive to foster community relationships and be a good steward of tax payer money. I will always continue to provide ethical, fair, and professional services to you. It is and always will be an honor to serve you. |
